I am absolutely crazy about this bag pattern. I’m not sure why, exactly, but it really is nice that it opens up into a flat “tray” for handy access. That’s really nice when I need to just toss some things to the side for easy use later. This is the third one I’ve made, though […]

One of my best friends has taken up quilting with some assistance from me. She is an accomplished home dec seamstress (I am not). She asked me if I would quilt this quilt which is a present for her son and daughter in law. I do not usually quilt anyone else's work as it is too nervewracking. I did this for her, although it was queen size and double sided. Most of the quilts I longarm are about 60 x 80 finished.
We went over designs and sketched out ideas. The hard thing is she made a second quilt ...
Several days ago I saw an email that piqued my interest. Telene Jeffrey, from South Africa, designs absolutely gorgeous wholecloth quilts. I love wholecloth quilts, but it’s been a very long time since I’ve made one. Since she has so many exquisite designs, I decided to start out small by doing her free design before […]

read moreI have two little projects to share with you today. First is a small bag I’ve made as a gift; it’s another Drop Zone bag from ByAnnie. I really like this bag, as it opens up completely flat and then zips completely and compactly closed. I added an adorable little zipper pull shaped like a […]
read moreThis quilt, like the previous one, is literally in the bag. I’m storing them both in bags until time to gift them to the intended recipients. This one is from a pattern called Strip to Be Square, by G.E. Designs. I know the colors may suggest “baby quilt,” but it’s not; I simply made it […]
read moreSome time ago (August, I think), I showed a couple of photos of the free-motion quilting I was doing on a lap-sized quilt. I’ve just realized that I never showed the finished quilt! Oops! This is the quilt, which measures 63″ x 72″; it’s a design by Lo & Behold Stitchery. I’ve made a few […]

Autumn Leaves Table Runner...
I pawed through my fabric cupboards
and found this leaf fabric for backing.
I have 3 more runners ready to baste and
go under the needle.
Are you going to be spending more time on our sewing machines now that the weather is getting colder? I know I am! It is basically an orange peel variation, but instead of an arch shape we are using a shape that resembles a gentle wave or a hill / slope.
The asymmetry in that shape adds so much movement in your quilt! I know that the design is ...
